The Day my Alarm Clock Fails
Have you ever prepared tirelessly for a test just to be late for the day of the test? Well, last night I studied so hard my butt fell off the seat when I had to go to sleep. I would have slept for 4 hours and woke up to go to school. Instead, my alarm clock decides to play a game on me. It failed to ring when I needed it to.
So on a day where I shouldn't have gotten any sleep, I had a million more hours of sleep than I should have gotten. I woke up perfectly on time. When I went downstairs, no one else was awake either. I was doomed, so with my heart racing, I went to my parents' room and screamed so they could all wake up. Well, my parents immediately woke up, but when they saw the time on their phones, you should have seen the look on their faces. They sprang out of bed and ran straight into the car. Then we drove to school. The drive was two minutes, but it felt endless.
Finally when I reached school, I asked to be let in, I sprinted up the stairs to the 5th-grade hallway. Then I had to catch my breath, or else the teacher would know that I had run across the whole school, leading to more trouble than I already was. So after I knocked on the door, I heard a huge sigh from my teacher outside of the classroom. Everyone had to stop the test and watch me come into the classroom. I heard people rolling their eyes even my friends cause they were all in the middle of a question.
My teacher cut right to the chase and told me to go take the test. Honestly, I was flabbergasted that my teacher didn't scream at me for being late for such a crucial day. Honestly, after all those nights I've been studying, I know this test is going to be easy. Well I thought it was easy, turns out I studied the wrong material the whole time. I was doomed for this test, so I was stuck there with everyone doing the work except for me. The teacher was busy doing some study guides for the next class coming in after us.
I knew the only way to pass was to guess which answer would best fit the answer choice. Well when I turned it in, I was apparently the first one done so I got free time, but I had an extremely bad feeling about my test. My stomachs had butterflies, while walking out to recess ,after everyone was done with the test.
At the end of the day, my teacher said to come by my desk. I knew what was going to happen, because I failed the test miserably. Instead my teacher said, “great job young men last to arrive, but earliest to finish, yet getting a perfect 45/45. By the way, you are the only student who got a flawless score on this test.” I could not believe what I just heard but I replied“ Thank you” to my teacher. I hurried to catch my bus so I could go home. Well valuable lesson learned to wake up late for my final test of the year. So next time, know to set more than 1 alarm clock and study the right material before taking a test.

Fantastic storytelling, Sanjiv! I loved the dramatic build-up and unexpected twist at the end.
